Welcome to Berries Culinary Fitness

Mission Statement: To help reeducate and motivate you to achieve your fitness and nutritional goals by developing an individual, personal, and progressive program that is easy to follow…basically, to improve your Culinary Fitness!

What is Culinary Fitness?
There are 2 key components to a complete program: Fitness and Nutrition. There are many people who work out 6 days a week, but eat bacon cheeseburgers, french fries, soda, and milk shakes. Then there are people who profess themselves as “healthy” eaters. They are low carb, high protein, vegetarians, eat only fish, eat only grains, liquid diets, chicken broth diets, only eat meat on the third Friday of each month if there is a full moon diets…you get the point. Then they never exercise and never really develop any strength.

I was all of these people at some point…and still have the potential to be! Culinary Fitness is the combination of eating well and exercising properly. As a French Chef, I learned how to cook with cream and butter and was worried when I thought I could never have Crème Brulee or Chocolate Mousse again…or a nice juicy Ribeye Steak with mashed potatoes. These are all options…In Moderation! That word used to scare me…Moderation, what is that? Moderation means it is ok to have a Ribeye Steak occasionally, but not every day and it doesn’t have to be 24 oz.. How about an 8 oz. Steak with sautéed mushrooms and grilled asparagus and rice pilaf with lemon and herbs. That sounds great too!

Many people need to be reeducated on how to eat, shop, and cook properly as well. We are living in a world where you can not only get a quadruple bacon cheeseburger with a pound of fries and a gallon of coke for $2.99, but you don’t even have to get out of your car to get it…you just drive around back and they hand it to you out of a window…AND you can pay with your credit card and run up your bills at the same time (but that’s a whole different issue). That’s about 1500 calories right there and the only calories you burned were reaching for your wallet and turning the steering wheel…about 3 calories for those counting. Not to mention it is processed food on a bun with high fructose corn syrup soda to wash it down with...mmmmm.

Now, as a personal trainer, I have developed this concept to take out the guesswork and help EVERYBODY achieve their fitness AND nutrition goals without taking out the taste!

"The Winners in life look for the ideal circumstances and if they cannot
find them, they make them." George Bernard Shaw
